Seattle indie band Hey Marseilles play Sellersville Theater tonight with stellar duo Lucius. After releasing a highly acclaimed debut, To Travel and Trunks back in 2010, Hey Marseilles followed up with another gorgeous record, Lines We Trace last March. This band has mastered the art of making songs that are both catchy and meaningful. Check out the video for their latest single, “Heart Beats” below (watch Lucius’ “Don’t Just Sit There” video too) and click here for tickets and more information.
If you’re in a hip-hop mood tonight, Brooklyn aritst Joey Bada$$ is playing the Troc along with Big K.R.I.T. and Action Bronson. Although he has yet to release his debut album, Joey Bada$$ has been riding on the popularity of his many mixtapes and singles, and recently put on a great (badass) show at The Roots Picnic. For more information about the show, click here and check out the single “Word is Bond” from his latest mixtape Summer Knights which came out last week.
Joan Baez has been non-stop touring, performing and recording since the late 1950s. Gaining fame with her own songs as well as countless covers of other artists including Bob Dylan, The Band and Ryan Adams, Baez is an enchanting singer with a haunting vibrato. Tonight, she plays The Mann Center with The Indigo Girls. This is one legend you don’t want to miss.
Saintseneca make folk music that’s unpredictable. It’s a sound that feels positive and fun, like a friend who makes faces to cheer you up, but has elements and sadness and introspection woven in as well. The Columbus, Ohio band recently signed a deal with Anti- Records – appropriate, since at points they remind me of another band on that label, Philly’s Dr. Dog – and tonight they play Moonbase Nix with Hundred Acre Woods and Abi Reimold (who you might also know as a contributing photographer for The Key).. Click here for more information and check out their song “Acid Rain” below.
