The Lawsuits‘ clever take on Americana, country-infused rock has made them one of our favorite local bands of late. The group released their most recent EP, Tumbled, back in 2014, but have recently been gearing up for the release of their sophomore album, Moon Sun, on Randm Records. The record’s first single, “Romeo,” is Wilco-esque, a calm two of half minutes of understated beautiful music. The Lawsuits play tonight at The Foundry and are likely to feature more tracks from the forthcoming Moon Sun. Grab tickets via the XPN Concert Calendar.

Punk rock trio The Thermals just released their new album We Disappear on Saddle Creek Records, their first since 2013. With their combination of half-spoken vocals and catchy guitar-driven melodies, it’s clear the Portland-based band, which has been around since 2002, has had a significant influence on more recent groups like Ought. The Thermals play tonight at Union Transfer. Tickets and more information here.

Cakes da Killa (aka Rashard Bradshaw) hails from Teaneck, New Jersey, and released his latest project #IMF in 2015. The rapper, who is an emerging face of the LGBT hip-hop scene, takes his electro-influenced flows to Johnny Brenda’s tonight. Grab tickets over at the XPN Concert Calendar.

Also playing:

Louds at Boot & Saddle ($10, 8:30 p.m., 21+)

Ben Arnold at Burlap and Bean ($15, 8 p.m., AA)

Needle Points at Bourbon and Branch ($8-$10, 9 p.m, 21+)
